Prioritise your mental well-being
Mental health is a critical aspect of overall well-being, encompassing emotional, psychological, and social factors.
It enables individuals to handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. The World Health Organization emphasizes that mental health is not merely the absence of mental disorders but a state of well-being where a person can realize their potential, cope with the normal stresses of life, work productively, and contribute to their community.
Despite its importance, mental health issues are often underreported and undertreated, with many individuals not seeking the help they need due to stigma or lack of access to care.
Organizations like the South African Depression and Anxiety Group provide crucial support and resources, offering 24-hour toll-free emergency helplines for those in crisis. Research indicates that mental health conditions are prevalent at alarming rates, yet a significant gap remains in awareness and treatment, highlighting the need for increased mental health literacy and accessible services.
As part of our Preventative Care Benefit on Mental Health, Libcare offers one GP or Psychiatrist or Psychologist consultation per beneficiary per annum. The cost will not affect your Medical Savings Facility or Out-of-Hospital Expense Benefit if it is charged within the Libcare Rate.
